GB/T 8162-2018 (Seamless Steel Tubes for Structural Purposes in China)

Application: Mechanical components, engineering supports, general load-bearing parts.

Typical Materials:

20# steel: Low-carbon steel with good weldability and cold formability, used in shafts and links

45# steel: Medium-carbon steel, high strength after quenching and tempering, used in gears, spindles, piston rods

Q345: Low-alloy high-strength steel for heavy-duty structural parts

Features: Available in hot-rolled or cold-drawn conditions, suitable for non-precision structural applications.    

GB/T 3639-2021 (Cold Drawn or Cold Rolled Precision Seamless Steel Tubes)

Application: Hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic components, precision mechanical transmission systems.

Common Grades: 10#, 20#, 35#, 45#

Advantages:

High dimensional accuracy (±0.1mm), uniform wall thickness

Excellent surface finish, no secondary machining required

Resistant to deformation during cold bending, flaring, and flattening, ideal for small-batch, high-precision manufacturing

Use Cases: Hydraulic cylinders in construction machinery, automotive shock absorbers, guide shafts in automation equipment.

ASTM A519 (Mechanical Seamless Steel Tubing in USA)

Application: High-stress mechanical parts such as connecting rods, drive shafts, bearing sleeves.

Material Types:

1026, 1045: Equivalent to Chinese 20# and 45# steel

4130, 4140: Chromium-molybdenum alloy steels with high strength and wear resistance, require heat treatment

Requirements: Must be seamless and heat-treated (e.g., quenched and tempered) to ensure mechanical properties.      

EN 10297-1 (European Standard for Alloy Steel Seamless Tubes for Mechanical Use)

Application: Automotive drive shafts, agricultural machinery gears, construction equipment components.

Typical Material: 1.0212 (equivalent to 45# steel)

Chemical Composition: C 0.42%-0.50%, Mn 1.00%-1.30%

Performance: Tensile strength >600MPa, HRC 30-45, balanced strength and toughness, suitable for cold heading and machining processes.               

ASTM A106 Gr.B (Carbon-Manganese Seamless Steel Pipe)

Primarily used for high-temperature fluid transport, but also applied in non-pressure mechanical frames and supports

Features: Carbon content <0.30%, Mn 0.29%-1.06%, good weldability and formability

Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength ≥415MPa, elongation ≥30%, suitable as general mechanical support structures.
